πŸ“šβœ¨ Homework Harmony: Creating Stress-Free Study Sessions! 🌟
You've made the decision to not give stress or overwhelm a seat at your table this school year, then you remember with school comes homework! I know for me, when I first sent Booba to school homework was a sore spot. It really highlighted how much school had changed since I was there and it showed in how we interacted during homework time.

If I'm being honest, I just did what I remember doing as a kid when it came to homework. I quickly learned that we are all not the same!

Both of the boys learn very differently in some ways and in other ways they are exactly the same. One thing I've learned for sure is to be consistent and allow them to show/tell me what works best for them. I know that getting back into the swing of school can be a rough transition, throw in homework and projects and we can be ready to throw in the towel. It doesn't have to be like that. I want to share with you some strategies, that have been so helpful around here, to help transform homework time into a peaceful and productive experience for both you and your kiddos.

  1. Cozy Corner, Clear Mind: Designate a clutter-free, comfy corner for homework. A tidy workspace helps clear mental clutter, enhancing focus and creativity. I like to add in a diffuser and use oils like GeneYus to help with focus.
  2. Routine Rules: Consistency is key! Set a designated homework time each day. Predictable routines ease anxiety and make it easier for kids to transition into work mode.
  3. Snack Smart: Healthy brain food fuels productivity. Provide a small snack before homework to keep energy levels up and brains engaged.
  4. Goal Setting Galore: Break tasks into smaller goals. Celebrate each achievement along the way – motivating your kids and boosting their confidence.
  5. Mindful Breaks: Encourage short breaks between tasks. Stretch, breathe, or even have a mini dance party! These moments of play can refresh the mind. This was huge during testing study sessions.
  6. Positive Vibes Only: Create a positive atmosphere with gentle encouragement. Your belief in their abilities will inspire them to give their best.
  7. Make it a Team Effort: Sit alongside your child and work on something too. This 'together time' not only provides support but also models dedication.
  8. Homework Heroes Chart: Craft a visual chart to track completed assignments. Colorful stickers or checkmarks add a sense of accomplishment.
  9. Flexible Learning: If frustration builds up, encourage them to reach out for help – from teachers, classmates, or even you. Learning is a journey, and it's okay to seek guidance.
  10. Homework High-Fives: End each study session with a high-five or a hug. These positive gestures reinforce their hard work and the joy of learning.
I'd love to hear which ones you try and how they work out for you and your family. Remember, you don't have to try all of these or even any of them. Use this as a guide to do what feels right for you and your little ones.
