10 Self-Care Mother’s Day Gift Ideas: Help Mom Relax and Unwind

10 Self-Care Mother’s Day Gift Ideas: Help Mom Relax and Unwind
As Mother's Day approaches, it's time to start thinking about the perfect gift for the most important woman in your life.
I’ve got to admit, I have no problem receiving kitchen gadgets or any of those other gifts that people swear you shouldn’t buy a woman for Mother’s Day. I also look forward to the Mom mugs, pins, bags etc. I feel a little wronged when I don’t get one, lol. You know they’re coming but you appreciate them, like a motherhood badge or something. This year though, what if we got Mom the things she needs but won’t ask for or maybe doesn’t even know she needs. I’m talking about gifts to help Mom out with her self-care so she can keep mom-ing and doing the things she loves with a full cup.

Giving your Mom a gift that promotes self-care and relaxation is a great way to show your love and appreciation. In this post I’m going to share with you some self-care Mother’s Day gift ideas that will help you make her day special.

Spa gift set
There's nothing like a day at the spa to help your mom unwind and relax. However, if a spa day isn't in the budget, you can create a spa gift basket that includes all the essentials for an at-home spa experience. Add some bath bombs, a diffuser with essential oils, a great body lotion and a luxurious robe to make her feel pampered and special. Some of my favorite bath bombs are Lavender and Stress Away. They are so relaxing!

Relaxation kit
If your mom needs some extra help to de-stress, a relaxation kit may be just the ticket. Include items like a cozy blanket, calming essential oils, and a meditation CD or book. These items can help her relax and unwind after a long day.

Yoga or fitness class
If your mom loves to stay active, a yoga or fitness class might be just what she needs. Sign her up for a class that she's always wanted to try. It's a great way to promote healthy habits and give her some much-needed time for herself.

Massage gift certificate
A massage is the ultimate way to relax and unwind. If you know your mom could use a little TLC, consider giving her a gift certificate for a massage at a local spa or massage therapist. It's a thoughtful gift that she'll appreciate.

Self-Care subscription box
Subscription boxes have become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason. They're a great way to try out new products and discover new brands. Sign your mom up for a self-care subscription box that delivers a variety of products to her doorstep each month. She'll love trying out new products and discovering new ways to take care of herself.

TheraBox is a really good option for a Self-Care subscription box. Each TheraBox is curated by therapists to provide tools to help manifest happier, healthier lives through practical joy-boosting activities and thoughtful self-care products.

Personalized journal
If your mom is into journaling or self-reflection, a personalized journal may be just what she needs. Create a journal that is tailored to her interests and include prompts to help her reflect on her life, set goals, and practice gratitude.

Cooking class
Healthy eating is an important part of self-care. If your mom loves to cook, sign her up for a cooking class that teaches healthy and nutritious meal preparation. It's a fun and practical gift that can help her take better care of herself.

Aromatherapy set
Aromatherapy has been shown to have many health benefits, including reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Put together an aromatherapy set that includes essential oils, a diffuser (I’ve got you covered with a complete set!), and a book on the benefits of aromatherapy. It's a gift that will keep on giving long after Mother's Day is over.

Relaxation-themed books
Books are a great way to escape into a world of relaxation and self-care. Buy your mom a few books on self-care, relaxation, and mindfulness. It's a thoughtful gift that can help her prioritize her own needs and take time for herself.

DIY gift basket
If you want to create a personalized gift, consider putting together a DIY gift basket. Include a mix of self-care products that your mom will enjoy, such as her favorite tea, bath salts, and a new book. It's a thoughtful and personal gift that shows your mom just how much you care.

I’ve included a few links of my favorite products that will help you build out your perfect Mother‘s Day gift. If you need any help with bundling essential oils or oil products shoot me a message and I’ll help you get the perfect bundle for Mom.

Whether you decide to give your mom a spa gift set, a massage gift certificate, or a subscription box, the most important thing is to show her how much you love and appreciate her.

Elevate your Wellness: Nurturing your Mind, Body, & Soul

Elevate your Wellness: Nurturing your Mind, Body, & Soul
When you think about your wellness what's the first thing that comes to mind?

For a lot of people the first thing that they think of is their physical fitness, how in shape they are. While getting in movement and/or exercise daily is a key part to your wellness and ultimately your health there's more to your wellness than physical fitness - the holistic side.

The holistic side to wellness is one that I speak mostly on because it's the one that I had no idea about and was definitely not tapping into,  but has been major in my journey of getting my hormones in balance and learning to truly take care of myself. The holistic approach focuses on the mind, body, and soul. When you take care of all three, you can really elevate your wellness and achieve your health goals that allows you to live your best life. Just like with self-care activities there are many different ways that you can approach your wellness holistically and for each of you there will be things that work or align more with you then they do with someone else you know. As you decide which activities you will engage give yourself grace and the understanding that it's okay to change them up and find something else that works for you. After all this is your wellness, you want to engage in things that not only work for you but bring you peace & joy not cause you overwhelm and stress.

I want to share with you some tips and activities that I started out with to give you some direction and help you get started.

Nurturing Your Mind

Your mind is the control center of your body. It's responsible for everything from decision-making to problem-solving to emotions. To nurture your mind, you need to give it the tools necessary for it to function at its best.

Start with these 3 tips:
  1. Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment without judgement. It can help you reduce stress, increase focus, and improve your overall well-being.
  2. Read and Learn: Reading and learning new things can keep your mind sharp and engaged. Whether it's a book, a podcast, or an online course, make time for intellectual stimulation.
  3. Get Enough Sleep: I know that I say this a lot but I really cannot stress enough important it is to get good sleep. Your brain needs rest to function at the high level that it does. You should be aiming for 7-9 hours of sleep per night to give your mind the adequate time it needs to recharge.
Nurturing Your Body

Your body is the vehicle that allows you to experience life. You've got feed it, literally and figuratively, the right things and provide the proper care so you can do all the things you want to do, experience all the things you want to experience feeling your best.

Start with these 3 tips:
  1. Exercise Regularly: Regular exercise can improve your physical health, boost your mood, and even reduce stress. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it's running, yoga, dancing, or lifting weights and make it a regular part of your daily routine.
  2. Eat a balanced diet: A balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains can provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function. Included in this balance is the fun foods that we love to eat too. Don't think of them as good or bad. Instead think of what they do for you, provide for you.
  3. Practice Self-Care: Self-care is about taking care of yourself both physically and emotionally. This could include anything from taking relaxing bath to going for a walk in nature.
Nurturing Your Soul

Your souls is the essence of who you are. It's the part of you that connects you to something bigger than yourself. To nurture your soul you need to find ways to tap in your spirituality and connect with your inner self.

Start with these 3 tips:
  1. Meditate: Meditation can help you connect with your inner self, reduce stress, and improve your overall wellness. Find a quiet space and spend a few minutes, daily, in meditation.
  2. Spend Time in Nature: Spending time in nature can help you feel connected to something bigger than yourself. Go for a hike, take a walk in the park, or simply sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the natural world.
  3. Practice Gratitude: Gratitude is the practice of focusing on the good in your life. Take time each day to reflect on what you're grateful for. This can be things like your health, your relationships, having a place to live or for being able to live this life.
Nurturing all of you will play a major role in you elevating your wellness and achieving your wellness & health goals. By practicing mindfulness, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, practicing self-care, meditating, spending time in nature, and practicing gratitude, you can elevate your wellness and live your best life.

Remember, wellness is a journey, not a destination, so take small steps every day to nurture your mind, body, and soul.

Taking Care of Yourself: The Importance of Everyday Self-Care

Taking Care of Yourself: The Importance of Everyday Self-Care
Self-care is more than just taking a bubble bath or getting a massage. It's an essential tool for maintaining good health and well-being. In our fast-paced, stress-filled world, it's easy to neglect our own needs in favor of work, family, and other obligations. However, when you make the decision to be deliberate about prioritizing yourself and engaging in daily self-care you're putting yourself in a place to be able to manage stress, prevent burnout, and improve your overall quality of life.

There's lots of information out there about self-care and things you can do daily to take care of yourself. It can get very overwhelming and then you don't start, believing that it's not for you. I know the feeling too well! I want this to serve you in a way that makes it easy to get started, easy to continue to choose YOU, ultimately easy to create sustainable habits that you use every single day as tools for your wellness.

Here's 6 tips for incorporating self-care into your daily routine:

  1. Start your day with intention: Set aside time each morning to reflect on your goals for the day and engage in a self-care activity that energizes you, such as meditation or a short yoga practice.
  2. Take breaks throughout the day: Taking short breaks throughout the day can help you recharge and prevent burnout. Try taking a short walk, practicing deep breathing (one of my faves is box breathing 4 sec holds), or listening to calming music during your breaks.
  3. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness practices such as meditation, journaling, deep breathing, or yoga can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Try incorporating a mindfulness activity into your daily routine, even if it's just a few minutes a day.
  4. Connect with others: Building and maintaining strong relationships with friends and family is essential for good mental health. Make time for social connections and reach out to loved ones regularly.
  5. Engage in self-care activities: Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, such as reading, listening to music, arts, or taking a relaxing bath (yes, this is still a great option). It's important to make time for these activities. Get them on a schedule if you have to.
  6. Get enough restful sleep: Aim to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night and establish a consistent sleep schedule. Avoid screens and stimulating activities before bed, and create a relaxing bedtime routine to help you wind down.
Remember, self-care is not selfish or indulgent. It's an essential tool for maintaining good health and well-being. By prioritizing self-care in your daily routine, you'll be better equipped to handle life's challenges and enjoy a more fulfilling life. So, take care of yourself - you deserve it!

Lose an Hour, not Sleep

Lose an Hour, not Sleep
I love the Signs of Spring. They always remind me that change is necessary and allows for new things to beginning. What I don't love, daylight savings!

When we 'gain' that hour in Winter it feels great. I 100% love the idea of gaining an extra hour but I don't like losing that hour once Spring comes. More than that, I really dislike the disruption to my sleep schedule. I've learned, very painfully, that playing with your sleep can have major consequences. It literally affects everything; Mentally, Physically, & even emotionally. The longer you go without adequate sleep you can face things like depression. Our body needs good sleep.

This Sunday, 12th of March, if you're in a location that observes daylight savings, the clocks go forward. I use to really get into a state about it because I knew my schedule would be altered and getting back on track would take at least a week. I dreaded it. The last year, I've found a way to prepare myself before the time change and support me during the time transition. It has been so helpful. Get ready to save, screenshot and save so you have these tips for the next time change.

The week of the time change
  • Consider moving your bedtime back by 15-30 minutes a day for the few days prior (especially for your children if you feel that the change will strongly affect their routines).
  • Add 5 drops Lavender or Peace & Calming to a large handful of epsom salts for a calming bath.
  • Rub the feet of little ones with Lavender or SleepyIze essential oil and coconut oil or V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex to help them wind down.
  • Roll Tranquil or Rutavala on the bottom of your feet. For even more support, use the CBD Calm Roller.
  • Fill diffusers with sleepy blends (listed in the night of)
  • Make sure to keep up with your daily health routines like taking supplements, self-care techniques and using oils consistently.
The night before the time change
  • Follow the same bedtime routine outlined above. All these little steps add up to lots of great support
  • Support healthy sleep with a KidScents Unwind packet for the little ones and an ImmuPro or Sleep Essence tablet for the adults.
  • Fill your diffuser with one of these calming blends:
    • Peace & Calming + Lavender
    • Lavender, Cedarwood + Northern Lights Black Spruce
    • Dream Catcher + Tangerine
    • Patchouli, Tangerine, Lavender + Frankincense
    • Vetiver, Cedarwood, Lavender + Tangerine
    • KidPower + Lavender
The morning of the time change (and for the rest of the week)
  • Roll EndoFlex over your thyroid (front of the throat) and over your adrenals (lower back) to support healthy hormone levels that can get a little off during times of stress.
  • Make sure to get in Vitamin B. I love YL's Super B. Two tablets with breakfast for natural energy.
  • NingXia Red. Give your morning (afternoon or anytime) a pick me up with 2-4 ounces of NingXia Red. If you're feeling jazzy mix up a fun mocktail (be sure to make one for the kids, my boys steal mine)
    • 2-4 oz NingXia Red
    • 1 can sparkling water or 1 can NingXia Zyng
    • Healthy splash organic kombucha
    • 1 tsp Golden Turmeric powder
    • 1 packet NingXia Nitro
    • Lots of crushed ice
  • Apply Peppermint to the back of the neck and on the temples (make sure to avoid the eyes) to help focus and sharpen the mind. If you need some support focusing, KidScent GeneYus is a great option too.
  • Grab a NingXia Nitro packet for mental clarity
  • Fire up your diffuser with some energizing & uplifting blends:
    • Peppermint, Raven/RC + Lemon
    • Rosemary, Grapefruit, Bergamot + Lime
    • PanAway, Spearmint + Lemon
    • Joy + Peppermint
    • Rosemary, Peppermint + Lemon
    • Tangerine, Grapefruit, Lime, Bergamot
    • Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, + Rosemary
The night of the time change
  • Follow the same healthy sleep routines outlined above. ImmuPro is a great choice, especially if you're feeling extra tired and run down.

The last thing I want you to do is remember to give yourself (and your loved ones) grace when time goes forward and the next few days after as you adjust to the shift in your schedules. This can be a hard time for everyone, especially when those moods and hormones get all mixed up. Take some deep breathes and remember you have the tools to support you and your families wellness during this transition.

Overcoming Holiday-Itis

Overcoming Holiday-Itis
Anyone else feel like it's been so hard coming back from the holiday's and getting into real world mode?

Every year this is a struggle for me, but usually it's just because I'm not ready for those early morning school runs. I'd much rather have the extra sleep. This year has been an entirely different beast and it's been kicking my butt.

  • tired
  • can't sleep
  • irritability
  • brain fog
  • slow digestion
  • crazy bloating
  • joints acting up
  • and last but not least the breakouts
Any of that got you saying, "yes girl what is going on"?

I've been in denial because I know it all to well or at least I know what it means. You enjoyed the holiday season so much, took complete advantage of all the yummy goodness and wasn't on top of your wellness game - the gut portion specifically. You've got the Holiday-Itis!

Yup, you've had all the sugar mixed with a little stress and the bread oh the bread. Throw that all together with the fact that you were off on your gut health game and what you've got is a puffy mess of wtf. Because of your gut (digestive) not working at its best you're also not flushing out toxins like you should be or normally would be and now you've got a system that is overloaded and tired. We know, we hear it all the time, sugar = inflammation and an overloaded sluggish system means all of the things I mentioned above and then some.

So what do you do? A Digestive Reset!

I've been struggling so badly, this year, that I switched up my entire month to have two challenges because this was needed badly for me and I knew that if I was there was at least one more person out there who needed it too. It kicked off on the 23rd of January over in EssentOily You, if you're not already a part of my free group make sure you click and get yourself in there. This week I've been talking about the importance of your gut running at it's best and YL products that I love to help heal and maintain my gut health.

The Digestive Reset challenge is something you can do anytime of the year, so if you're seeing this months even years from when it was first posted you can still jump on it!

February 6 I will kick off the 2-week challenge, where we will use any combination of the products that I mentioned, your choice whatever feels best for you (I'm happy to help you choose). I will say that ICP Daily is a must have and it'll become part of your daily routine, it's that good!

This challenge is all about healing our gut health and creating sustainable, easy habits that you can take with you long after the 2 weeks to help you maintain your gut health. It's easy to forget that our overall health & wellness really starts in our gut, it's not until we end up feeling like crap do we remember and if we don't have the tools to heal, manage, and elevate then we just end up living in that unhappy state accepting it as our new normal. We're not doing that any more!

Get into EssentOily You and start building those habits to elevate your wellness.

**If you have any questions or would like more information please reach out, I'm more than happy to help**
